❖ B O D Y; physical looks, traits, style of dress.

The Drifter is a small, lithe humanoid. Their build is quite slight, but they are extremely agile to compensate - a necessity, as their constitution is extremely low. Their most striking feature by far is the tint of their skin, as the only visible part of it it is a vivid, deep blue. Their eyes are round and very dark, practically black.

The Drifter wears a dark gray helm with red highlights, gray boots, and a gray tunic. Their armor is black; battle-worn but sturdy. They also wear a flowing red cloak with a mantle that covers the lower half of their face. As their helm covers the top of their head, only a small strip of their blue skin is visible on their entire body.

Due to the illness that has ravaged their respiratory system and vocal cords, the Drifter cannot speak aloud. Instead, they communicate via the companion sprite that hovers just behind their person at all times. Said companion sprite is dark turquoise and red, and about six to eight inches in height. It is non-sentient and part of the equipment typical of most drifters, but its intuitive interface means that they use it to indicate who is an ally and who is an enemy in battle, so that their weapons do not hurt friendly targets. It also enables communication by means of a text-based HUD system, which they also use for the purposes of mapping. It will chime softly when certain uses are activated.

❖ M I N D; psyche, personality, general mentality.

Polite, respectful, and stoic, the Drifter is not a creature of many words, written or otherwise. They prefer action in all respects, but they are not reckless; they are possessed of a warrior's intuition, cunning, and foresight, and the caution of one who has lived a very long time in a world that favors combat. Their occupation is the same as their title. They are a drifter and a nomad who roams the world in search of old technology and broken history, a practice with which they have vast experience. The world from which the Drifter harkens is not a pleasant one, and they have had to be hard and uncompromising to compensate. Their methods of attack are violent, but not unnecessarily cruel. They will not hesitate to take action should it be required of them, but they are swift and brusque and do not promote the prolonging of suffering.

Their blue skin and dark eyes mark them as a member of a race that, in their world, is not easily welcomed. That combined with their debilitating illness and the lonesome nature of their profession does not make them ideal company. The Drifter has grown used to being unwanted, and does not wish to inflict their presence upon anyone that does not desire it - which they assume to be most people.

However, beneath their even-tempered demeanor resides someone with an incredible raw determination to always see things through. The slightest possibility for a cure is enough for the Drifter to commit to piecing the world together and shattering the tumor draining the life away from the heart of it. Despite the unkindness of a world molded by a harsh exterior, the Drifter does not strike those who are peaceful in nature; on the contrary, they are courteous and even friendly when allowed the chance.

❖ S K I L L S; talents, powers, magics.

♦ COMBAT PROWESS — A marked proficiency with bladed weapons and ranged weaponry is a necessity in their profession. Despite their low constitution and how few hits the Drifter can weather before perishing, they have learned to fashion those weaknesses into strengths by dealing damage in powerful bursts of lethal action before darting away to escape danger.

♦ COMPANION — Their floating companion is intuitive and non-sentient, but it relays vital information to and from the Drifter, such as maps and text-based HUDs through which they may communicate, as well as noting their supplies.

♦ CHAIN DASH — The Drifter's natural speed and agility enables them to "dash" forward in a blinding flash of motion, allowing them to dodge projectiles and cover stretches of ground more quickly. Their capacity to chain dashes is limited by their stamina, and thus they cannot simply dash forward indefinitely. They can, however, also absorb slow-moving projectiles by dashing into them, as well as spearheading a dash with their hard light sword to thrust their enemies away from them.

♦ CHARGED BLADE — Though the Drifter is capable of delivering a single higher-damage, higher-range swipe, they are vulnerable both before and after this particular action, as it both requires them to hold still beforehand and eats away at their stamina as a consequence. Each instance of this attack, as well as any other special attacks performed with this blade, requires a cooldown before it can be performed again.

♦ MARKSMANSHIP — A history of working with ranged weapons and demolitions has made the Drifter very skilled at adapting to new technology swiftly and adroitly.

♦ PROJECTILE REFLECTION — With the right timing, the Drifter can block incoming projectiles back at those that fired them. This is not without limitations, as the projectiles must be both energy-based and moving slowly enough for the Drifter to time their attacks.

❖ M E D I C A L; what lies beneath.

Plagued by an incurable illness, the Drifter is a creature living on borrowed time. The illness does not have a name; if it does, it is not one commonly known. It is, however, a common enough affliction for those from the Drifter's world to recognize it on sight. Its symptoms are varied and unpleasant, but its terminal nature means that it is not contagious. Their race is not human, and much of their anatomy - indeed, most of the specifics of what lies beneath their cloak and garments - is unknown. Their symptoms manifest thusly:

♦ CARDIAC — Frequent chest pains.

♦ CONSTITUTION — The Drifter can survive five or so good hits or one two two well-aimed, powerful hits before perishing.

♦ FATIGUE — Limiting their stamina thusly.

♦ HALLUCINATIONS — Usually involving Judgment, the Immortal Cell plaguing their world.

♦ MUTE — Their coughing fits have ravaged their vocal cords and rendered them incapable of verbal speech.

♦ RESPIRATORY — Frequent coughing fits; involves coughing up pools of bright pink blood.
